Why does the iPad Air use so much power when it’s just sitting idle?
I’m back in the mental loop of wondering how best to organize a vast mess of text/Markdown files. I wish the next generation of notetaking apps or wikis would just be able to digest whatever crazy arrangement of files and folders I come up with and not want to take things over like Logseq or Obsidian do with their particular structure of support folders.

The Cold War Conversations episode about Apollo 13 with Fred Haise is full of details about procedures, equipment, and his fellow crew members. Although there was a real crisis when the oxygen tank exploded, it was less dramatic than the movie made it seem. He has a book called Never Panic Early: An Apollo 13 Astronaut’s Journey. I could read about that stuff all day.

If we did end up in a 2022-equivalent of the Cuban Missile Crisis, would anyone care or be worried? Would anyone even notice, with all of our mobile device gewgaws and social media platforms to keep us otherwise entertained and distracted?
This is my first Blot post with the iPad Air and Smart Keyboard! I fully intended to make an iOS Shortcut to create these daily notes from a template, but I went and did it in a Drafts action purely by accident because it’s so easy.

I would like an always-on electronic way to add stuff to a daybook file, the way that a paper bullet journal can be always open and ready to go. I don’t want to have to wake up a screen that’s fallen asleep, or launch or switch to an app to start typing. It’s got to be faster than paper, searchable, plaintext or Markdown. Syncing with Dropbox would be nice. But small enough to leave open on my desk all the time and just dump things into.
When editing in Lightroom or Capture One, I never know if my screen is too light or too dark when it comes to making exposure adjustments. I just followed this guy’s advice and made my own copy of the “Photography (P3-D65)” preset, and set the SDR to 80 (or 100). Those two settings seem to be in the range of what I can work with.
I don’t love that Craft has a limit of 175k blocks per space. Yes, I’m only at 1.2% of that utilization, but it feels arbitrary and makes me not take it as seriously as I’d like.

I looooove the Selects folder in Capture One sessions. That tiny bit of friction involved with moving a photo from the Captures folder to Selects is just what my brain needs to say “yes, this is a good one and I’ve decided it makes the cut for burning a final output jpeg”. It’s unambiguous and discrete in a way that star ratings and color tags aren’t.
